Wall lights
Wall lights hang from a single screw, and the battery LED option needs no wiring at all.
-
Step 1 Choose your power Battery LED with remote needs no wiring. Mains E14 versions connect to an existing wall point.
-
Step 2 Mark the fixing Hold the light where you want it and mark the screw position.
-
Step 3 Check it's level Use a spirit level so the light hangs straight.
-
Step 4 Drill and plug Use a screw and wall plug suitable for both the piece and your wall.
-
Step 5 Hang the light Wall lights hang from a single screw. Check the printed instructions for your design.
-
Step 6 Light it up Battery: switch on with the remote. Mains: have it connected by a qualified electrician.

Hardwired lights
Hardwired lights connect to your mains supply. Fixing the bracket and sconce is simple; the wiring is a job for a qualified electrician.
-
Step 1 Check the box You'll find the plaster sconce, a U-shaped bracket that stands off the wall, a ceramic E14 lampholder that fits onto the bracket, an E14 bulb (UK mains only), and screws for fixing the bracket or hanging the light.
-
Step 2 Book an electrician Connecting a light to mains power may legally require a qualified electrician. We are not qualified electricians, so we cannot talk you through the electrical installation.
-
Step 3 Mark the bracket Hold the bracket over the wall point, check it's level and mark the screw holes.
-
Step 4 Fix the bracket Drill and plug the holes to suit your wall, then screw the bracket in place with the screws supplied.
-
Step 5 Wire the lampholder Your electrician connects the ceramic lampholder to the mains and fits it onto the U-shaped bracket.
-
Step 6 Fit the bulb Screw the supplied E14 bulb into the ceramic lampholder. It is for UK mains only. Outside the UK, or if it isn't compatible, buy your own E14 bulb: it simply screws into the existing ceramic bulb holder.
-
Step 7 Hang the sconce Hook the sconce onto the U-shaped bracket using its nylon wire loop or keyhole slot, depending on your design. If needed, the loop or keyhole can hang from a separate screw in the wall instead. Check it sits straight.
-
Step 8 Bought the wrong version? No rewiring needed. Buy a powerful battery LED light and simply stick it to the back of the sconce.

Painting
Pieces arrive as natural cast plaster. Paint them into the wall, or leave them raw for contrast.
-
Step 1 Test first Try your paint somewhere inconspicuous before you start.
-
Step 2 Seal bare plaster Natural cast plaster should be sealed before painting. Primed pieces need different preparation.
-
Step 3 First thin coat Apply a thin coat of emulsion and let it dry fully.
-
Step 4 Second thin coat Two thin coats beat one thick one, every time.
-
Step 5 Blend or contrast Match your wall for a subtle detail, or use contrast to pick out the form.

I painted it to match the van's wall, and it works perfectly.
Finishes
Leave it raw. Or paint to match.
Paintable pieces can blend with your wall or ceiling, or stand out in a contrasting colour. Check each product for the finishes it is offered in.
